PEAK LOAD MANAGEMENT THROUGH COMBINED CYCLE POWER GENERATION AUGMENTATION USING PEAKING CYCLE EXHAUST HEAT RECOVERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for augmenting the power generation capabilities of a combined cycle power generation system.;SOLUTION: In certain embodiments, the present techniques can include receiving superheated steam from a heat recovery steam generation (HRSG) unit 32. Heated exhaust gas from a peaking cycle gas turbine 66 can be used to transfer heat to the superheated steam received from the HRSG 32. The systems used to transfer the heat to the superheated steam can include a supplementary superheater located in the exhaust path 82 of the peaking cycle gas turbine 66. The superheated steam exiting the supplementary superheater can be delivered to the steam turbine 22 of the combined cycle power generation system 64, where the superheated steam can be used as a power source.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
