PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of shooting good quality photographs by automatically setting image quality parameters in accordance with a person to be shot after recognizing the persons' face and automatically identifying the person based on registered personal attribute information, and to provide an art of shooting good quality photographs and programs. PSOLUTION: During shooting, the camera detects the face of the person in an image in a frame and extracts facial characteristic data. Then, it compares the extracted facial characteristic data with characteristic data stored in a characteristic data section 44 of facial recognition records that constitute a facial recognition table 40, and identifies a person that is registered in a facial recognition record having the highest similarity with the person as the person of the detected face. Thereafter, the camera sets image quality parameters registered in the facial recognition record (data stored in a sharpness section 46 to a filter section 49 as represented in an example of Fig.4) as shooting parameters before shooting.
