PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for destructive determination of a spot welding section in a finite element analysis.;SOLUTION: In the method, respective spot welding sections in a structure are expressed with cluster of at least one solid element in a finite element analysis approach model of the structure. Each spot welding section is used so as to integrally combine two parts. Each of these two parts is generally expressed as many two-dimensional shell elements, that is, modeled. These shell elements indicating two parts need not be arranged in space because coupled connection between spot welding sections and two parts can optionally be arranged in each of the two parts. Only mutual overlapping is indispensable for both the two shell elements so that the spot welding sections may combine the two shell elements (that is, one place from each part). A spot welding section fracture criterion is used to determine the spot weld destruction including shear stress and axial stress which affect a spot weld/shell element size/spot weld position effect extent scale factor and a distortion rate effect.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
