PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a population density estimation device using image processing capable of easily and efficiently providing the estimated value of population density.;SOLUTION: This population density estimation device 1 using image processing comprises: an image input means 111 for reading the image of a map; an edge detection means 12 for extracting the profile of a building from the read image; an image dividing means 13 for partitioning the read image into the areas of preset sizes; an edge amount counting means 14 for counting the amount of edge for each area partitioned by the image dividing means; and a population density estimation means 15 for calculating the estimated value of the population density according to the amount of the edge obtained by the edge amount counting means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
