PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permeability maintenance method for a methane hydrate reservoir, which is useful for the sufficiently stable recovery of methane gas from the methane hydrate reservoir. PSOLUTION: This permeability maintenance method for maintaining the permeability of the methane hydrate reservoir 5 producing the methane gas is characterized as follows: ultrasonic waves W are applied to the reservoir 5 from an ultrasonic wave oscillator 10 arranged near the finishing section Z of a chute 3 into which a fluid containing the methane gas flows; and clay and/or silt in a void of the reservoir 5 near the finishing section Z are/is taken into the chute 3 together with the fluid.
