PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of purifying an underground soil zone by chemical oxidation in situ including converting pollutants into nonhazardous substances by directly contacting an underground soil zone with an oxidative decomposition agent fed by means such as injection to subject the pollutants to oxidative decomposition in situ in a so-called polluted site (an in situ environment) including at least one underground soil zone of an unsaturated zone and a saturated zone without digging and removing them.;SOLUTION: The pollutants are subjected to oxidative chemical treatment to be converted into non hazardous substances in an in situ environment including at least one soil zone of an unsaturated zone and saturated zone by preparing a mixed aqueous solution containing ferrous sulfate, sodium citrate, and hydrogen peroxide, and having a pH range of 4-7 in a treatment vessel provided on the ground, and feeding the mixed aqueous solution into the in situ environment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
