PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect crushed pieces of an existing embedded pipe, without requiring open-cut and using a screw auger.;SOLUTION: A start pit 2 and an arrival pit 3 are drilled at a start end position of the existing embedded pipe 1 requiring renewal and at a finish end position thereof, respectively. A crushing cutter 11 is connected to a propelling device 4, set up in the start pit 2 for crushing the existing embedded pipe 1 pressed to the direction of reducing its diameter by propulsion, in contact with the pipe end outer periphery of the existing embedded pipe 1. The crushed pieces 1a are collected out of the arrival pit 3 by using the crushing cutter 11 propelled by the propelling device 4, and the old embedded pipe is replaced with new one, by using the propelling device 4 for pushing and embedding a renewal pipe 1A in a propulsion track of the crushing cutter 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
