PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marker used for treating a patient suffering from mild or severe non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and capable of exactly determining the therapeutic effect. PSOLUTION: The marker for determining the therapeutic effect of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in blood or liver is either one of ferritin, thioredoxin or free fatty acids derived from blood drawn from a patient suffering from non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, or either one of Cu, Zn-super oxide dismutase, Mn-super oxide dismutase, tumor necrosis factor , intracellular adhesive molecule-1, toll-like receptor 4 which is an endotoxin receptor, collected from the patients and originated from liver, and is measured as a change of the content of the same, or a change of the mRNA content of the same. The marker for determining the disease state or the therapeutic effect of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis is cytokeratin fragment 18 derived from blood drawn from a patient suffering from non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases including non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and is measured as a change of the content of the same.
