Gene and its use to be involved in cell wall synthesis of plant

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To isolate and identify a gene or a protein participating in cellulose synthesis of plant cell walls and provide a method for applying the same. PSOLUTION: The gene participating in cellulose synthesis of plant cell walls is obtained from rice by using a variant reduced in function of cellulose synthesis of the plant cell walls. By using the gene and/or the protein encoded by the gene, improvement of quality of wood by modifying cell wall component of other plant and control of strength of stems or the like of plant by regulating cell wall synthesis may be performed.
