PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support system and a support method for efficiently and simply design a common jig that can be used for different figure parts.;SOLUTION: In the design support system, a three-dimensional model for parts having a plurality of different shapes is prepared with a help of a part design CAD (S1) and these data of the three-dimensional model are stored in a memory (S2). The data of the three-dimensional model for the parts are read from the memory (S3) and the three-dimensional models are displayed while referring to a specified feature point of each part, and displayed superposing on the screen of a display (S4). If a common portion of all three-dimensional models exists (S5; Y), the system extracts the common portion and displays it on the screen (S6). If the common portion of the three-dimensional models does not exist (S5; N), the system forms a group of the parts with the common portion (S7) and the common portion for every group is displayed on the screen (S8).
