PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can readily and surely store and output information about a fault when the fault occurs.;SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes an image forming means, a first control means (a processing system controller C1) that controls a processing unit relating to image forming, a second control means (a mechanical system controller C2) that controls a mechanical unit relating to image forming, a writing means (a USB interface 3) configured to write predetermined information into a mobile storage medium (a USB memory 100), a diagnostic means that diagnoses a fault occurring on a portion at least one of the first control means and the second control means, a determination means that determines an output destination of the information about the diagnostic result output from an information output means configured to include at least one of the image forming means and the writing means corresponding to the result of the diagnostic means, and an output control means (the processing system controller C1) that outputs the information about the diagnostic result to the determined output destination.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
