PSOLUTION: This palm position detection device detecting the position of a palm in an image obtained by imaging a palm side of a hand has: a palm right-and-left direction detection means detecting a right-and-left direction of the palm in the image based on changes of pixel values of the image; an upper end detection means detecting coordinates of the upper end of the palm in the image based on the changes of the pixel values in the right-and-left direction of the palm of the image; a right and left ends detection means detecting coordinates of the right and left ends of the palm in the image based on the changes of the pixel values in the right-and-left direction of the palm of the image; and a lower end detection means detecting coordinates of the lower end of the palm in the image from the coordinates of the right and left ends of the palm and the coordinate of the upper end of the palm.
