PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a volume other than a migration destination volume, as a migration destination on the basis of migration destination requirements when the migration destination volume is unavailable for some reason with respect to data migration.;SOLUTION: A storage system includes a storage subsystem for providing a host computer with data storage service, and a management device for managing the storage subsystem. The management device instructs a controller of the storage subsystem to migrate data on a migration source volume to a migration destination volume in accordance with a preliminarily determined task. When the migration destination volume is unavailable for some reason and data migration is not normally terminated, the management device searches for an alternative volume in accordance with migration destination requirements including essential and optional requirements and instructs the controller to migrate the data to the alternative volume.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
