PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge whether a data file to be fetched is a necessary data file or not by previously fetching only attribute data. SOLUTION: An MPU 21 in a personal computer(PC) 2 prepares a fetched management table 601 including the holder name, file name, photographed date, file size of each picture data recorded in a recorder 22 and records the prepared table 601 in the recorder 22. In the case of fetching a picture data file from an electronic still camera 1 to the PC 2, the camera 1 previously sends only attribute data and the MPU 21 in the PC 2 judges whether the data of the table 601 coincide with the attribute data fetched from the camera 1 or not. When the MPU 21 judges coincidence, the camera 1 does not send the picture data file to the PC 2, and at the time of judging non-coincidence, sends the picture data file to the PC 2.
