PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure detector for gas-insulated switchgear capable of more easily detecting any internal failure in gas-insulated switchgear.;SOLUTION: A vibration (sound) signal 5 produced in gas-insulated switchgear 1 is detected with a signal detector 10. Whether the vibration waveform is that from the operation of the switchgear or that from a dropped bolt, a loosened bolt, or the like is identified by a signal processor 11. the presence of any internal failure is thereby determined. The signal processor 11 includes: a waveform recognition unit that recognizes the waveform of an output signal of the signal detector 10; a storage unit that stores operating waveform when the gas-insulated switchgear 1 is normal (the switchgear is in its initial state); a comparison unit that compares the output waveform of the waveform recognition unit with the waveform stored in the storage unit; and a determination unit that determines the presence of any failure from the results of comparison by the comparison unit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
