PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic death rate estimation method for estimating a death rate on the basis of the quantity of eggs laid by many reared hens, by which whether a death rate based on the quantity of laid eggs is in a dangerous state or not can accurately be judged in response to the change of a total production quantity due to a difference in the week ages of the hens and to a change of a total production quantity after molted, in a poultry farm for rearing the many hens. PSOLUTION: This method for automatically estimating the death rate on the basis of the quantity of laid eggs has a step for reading the laid egg quantity of the many reared hens for each prescribed period, a step for reading the present week age egg-laying rate of the hens and the weight of eggs, a step for calculating a theoretical quantity of production on the basis of the read egg-laying rate and egg weight, a step for calculating a marginal quantity of production from the calculated theoretical quantity of production and a death risk rate, and a step for judging that the death rate is large, when the read raid egg quantity is less that the calculated marginal quantity of production.
