PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light splitting and coupling device, a beam splitter, and an array waveguide diffraction grating type light branching and coupling device, which have a conversion area that achieves a low loss rate, and effectively prevent a reflection of an optical signal caused in the conversion area.;SOLUTION: The light splitting and coupling device, the beam splitter, and the array waveguide diffraction grating type light branching and coupling device of this invention comprise a conversion area that achieves a low loss rate and effectively prevent a reflection of an optical signal caused in the conversion area. The light splitting and coupling device of this invention comprises a slab waveguide 55, a plurality of output waveguides 62₁, 62₂-62₁₀, and a plurality of waveguide paths 63 that connect the output waveguides next to each other.
