PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe chemical polishing agent for an alloy consisting essentially of iron, which has extremely high performance and with which a passivated film present on the surface of a work can be removed under a mild condition, also, micro-projecting parts and fine burrs generated on the surface and edges or impurities in the surface can be removed without excessively etching the surface of the work, further, the problem of health that operators are exposed to the vapor of strong acid can be improved as possible, and waste liquid treatment after use can be made easy, and to provide a surface treatment method for an alloy consisting essentially of iron using the same.;SOLUTION: In the surface treatment method, the surface of an alloy essentially consisting of iron is treated using a chemical polishing agent at least comprising phosphoric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, and in which the concentration of the phosphoric acid in the whole of the acid aqueous solution thereof is 20 to 90 wt., that of the nitric acid is 0.5 to 9.9 wt.%, and that of the sulfuric acid is 1 to 9.9 wt.%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
