PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing an alicyclic monoolefin carboxylic acid having high purity by a simple process using an easily available crude alicyclic monoolefin carboxylic acid ester as a raw material.;SOLUTION: A highly pure alicyclic monoolefin carboxylic acid expressed by formula (II) (R₁ and R₂ are each independently H or a 1-6C hydrocarbon group; and (n) is 1 or 2) is produced by hydrolyzing an alicyclic monoolefin carboxylic acid ester expressed by formula (I) (R₃ is an organic group eliminable by the hydrolysis with an alkali), washing the reaction mixture containing the obtained carboxylic acid alkali salt with a washing solvent composed of an organic solvent immiscible with water and converting the carboxylic acid alkali salt into the corresponding carboxylic acid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
