Composting device and method for composting felled trees in logging site

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce good-quality compost without carrying out turning-over work at a cutting site for timbers. SOLUTION: The ground 2 at the cutting site for timbers is excavated to form a pit 3 for containing cut tree chips 8 formed by chipping the cut-over trees. Impervious sheets 4 are installed to the inner side of the pit 3 and the cut tree chips 8 mixed with domestic animal dung are put into the pit. Sensors and pipes 6 consisting of humidity and temperature sensors, water feed pipes, air feed pipes and intake pipes are laid approximately at equal intervals between the cut tree chips 8. Water feed and ventilation are effected by the water feed pipes, air feed pipes and intake pipes in accordance with the humidity and temperature of the cut tree chips 8 obtained from the humidity and temperature sensors.
