PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution for reducing existence of SBS in a high-output narrow line width fiber amplifier.;SOLUTION: In the high-output fiber amplifier suitable for use of narrow line width, the fiber amplifier is segmented into separate parts exhibiting different Brillouin center frequencies to suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). By changing these center frequencies in adjacent segments in the fiber amplifier, this reverse propagation stokes signal is basically blocked to suppress SBS. In one desirable embodiment, this segmenting is added to an end termination of the fiber amplifier.
