PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coolant filtering device which does not take much time in detaching a splash guard cover at the time of removing chips to the outside of a filtering tank, eliminates a bother of removal work accompanied by raking work, can easily remove the chips in a short period of time without complicating the removal work, and need not secure a storage place for the splash guard cover, and to provide a chip removing method which is improved in the efficiency of chip removal work.;SOLUTION: The coolant filtering device 100 is provided with the filtering tank 10 for filtering a coolant flowing from a machine tool and separating chips mixed in the coolant, and the splash guard cover 20 arranged on an upper edge of the filtering tank 10, for preventing splash and spattering of the coolant.
