PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a new substance having plant-activating activity and a plant activator comprising the new substance as an active ingredient.;SOLUTION: This α-ketol unsaturated fatty acid derivative is represented by the general formula [R1 is an alkyl group; R2 is a hydrogen atom a methyl group or an ethyl group; R3 is a hydrogen atom or a carboxy group; R4 is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group, an isopropyl group, an acetyl group or a t-butyl group; R5 is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group, a methoxy group, an ethoxy group, a formyl group or a hydroxymethyl group; n is an integer of 3-15]. This method for producing the α-ketol unsaturated fatty acid derivative is provided. This plant activator comprises the α-ketol unsaturated fatty acid derivative as an active ingredient.
