PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sub picture reproduction apparatus, sub picture reproduction method and sub picture reproduction program contributed to expansion of a picture representation by much more improving flexibility in a display form of a sub picture image by enabling it to be controlled whether the sub picture image can be displayed or not for the unit of a pixel in the same sub picture stream. PSOLUTION: A sub picture reproduction apparatus comprises an input means (13, 14) to which a sub picture stream with display control information containing sub picture pixel data and a color code thereof is input; a setting means (31) for setting whether the sub picture pixel data can be displayed or not to the input sub picture stream for each color code through operation; and a processing means (21) for applying predetermined decode processing to the input sub picture stream and applying control to the sub picture pixel data corresponding to the color code which is set not to be displayed so that the sub picture pixel data is not displayed.
