PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processor and a data processing method for executing floating point multiplication and cumulative arithmetic operation to first, second and third operands, and for applying a result based on an IEEE754-1985 specification. ;SOLUTION: This data processor is provided with a multipler which performs the multiplication and rounding processing of second and third operands, and generates a rounded multiplied result, an adder which operates the addition and rounding processing of the rounded multiplied result and a first operand, and generates a rounded final result, and a control logic which controls the multiplier and the adder so that the rounded final result from the adder can be made equal to a value obtained by subtracting the rounded multiplied result from the first operand in response to a first single instruction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
