PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a printing device that can effectively arrange a logo, a decoration, and an image for an advertisement and sales promotion of a store on a receipt, and to provide a method for creating data for printing a receipt, a program, a printer driver, a printing device, a merchandize sales data processing device, and a POS system.;SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for controlling a printing device that adds an image to a receipt in merchandize sales and prints it, by which a predetermined character string showing a printing position of an image data is searched from settlement printing data, and the predetermined character string is extracted. Instruction information is obtained on whether the image should be a background image or an inset image. A line number specified by the predetermined character string extracted is obtained, and an image addition setting command is created based on the line number. The settlement printing data and the image addition setting command are transmitted to the printing device (50).
