PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of accurately deciding a break point of a cell, and accurately estimating a direction of a character line inside the cell, even when a ruled line of a table is drawn by color or shading. PSOLUTION: This image processor identifies a binary image of a document image and extracts a table area image. When dividing the table area image into cell images, the image processor extracts an edge of a length not less than a prescribed length from the document image corresponding to the table area image when the document image is a gray scale image or a color image, superimposes the edge on the table area image as the ruled line to generate a new table area image, and divides the table area image generated by superimposing into the cell images.
