PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a financial transaction system that contributes to service time extension of financial transaction documents and to the expansion of geographical convenience, and to provide a method for handling the financial transaction documents in the financial transaction system.;SOLUTION: With respect to handling of financial transaction documents for which a customer goes to a financial institution to directly handle them at a teller window, lockers 20a to 20c arranged at public facilities such as a store and a station are used to make it possible to make a deposit based on identification information issued beforehand by a management center 30, and after the financial institution side performs processing about the deposited financial transaction documents, a deposit is made in the lockers 20a to 20c again on the basis of the identification information at the time of return. The customer has only to deposit desired financial transaction documents in a locker without actually going to the financial institution in this way.
