PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for spreading a food dough by which slippage between the food dough and rollers is prevented, shrinkage of the food dough is prevented, and uniform spreading is allowed, when the food dough mass is spread flat.;SOLUTION: In the method for spreading the food dough mass 3 loaded on a loading stage 7 into a flat form conical spreading rollers 23 capable of revolving and rotating relative to the loading stage 7 are provided at a vertical lifting rack 15 capable of up and down moving relative to the loading stage 7, and on performing the spreading of the food dough 3 by pressing the spreading roller rellative to the food dough 3, performing the spreading of the food dough by driving and rotating the spreading roller 23 at a higher speed than the speed of the roller in a case that the spreading roller is rotated as influenced by the revolving of the spreading roller 23.
