PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enhancing the fatigue performance of a weld joint by relieving the stress concentration at a toe and a non-welded part of the weld joint having the non-welded part, and controlling the residual stresses.;SOLUTION: A hole is formed in an end of a non-welded part 5 from an end face to reduce the stress concentration in an end of a weld joint 1. In addition, the stress is reduced by driving a pin or a steel bar 19 in the hole. The stress concentration at the end face and the toe is reduced by providing the plastic deformation in the end, and smoothing the shape of the surface of the weld joint 1, and the compressive residual stress is provided. The effect of reducing the stress concentration is further enhanced by providing additional weld in a combined manner so as to increase the weld dimension.
