PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently prepare a database from a large amount of learning data, and to quickly retrieve information relevant to unknown data from the database.;SOLUTION: An orthogonal converting part 10 converts input data by an orthogonal matrix, and a distributed expression generating part 20 searches the neighboring points(also called elements) of the converted input data in a discrete space, and generates the distributed expressions of the input data. A dictionary generating part 30 generates a dictionary 110 for retrieving the nearest point by using each element in the distributed expressions of the input data as a retrieval key, and registers the label of the input data by associating it with the retrieval key. A retrieving part 40 retrieves the dictionary 110 for retrieving the nearest point by using each element in the distributed expressions of the unknown data as a retrieval key, and stores the label of the learning data linked to the retrieval key in a nearest point candidate table 130 as the nearest point candidate. A test part 50 calculates the inner product of the learning data of the nearest point candidate and the unknown data, and outputs the nearest point candidate whose inner product value is the maximum as the nearest point of the unknown data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
