PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) introduced with a hydrophilic sulfonic acid group and its derivative for improving melt processability, to provide a method for producing the same, to obtain a static electricity-controlling agent for a toner by using the PHA, and to provide an applied technology of the same. PSOLUTION: The PHA containing ≥1 unit expressed by formula (1) [wherein, R is ASB1/SB-(SOSB2/SBRSB1/SB)SBx/SB; RSB1/SBis OH, a halogen atom, ONa, OK or ORSB1a/SB; RSB1a/SB, ASB1/SBs are each a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic hydrocarbon structure, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring structure or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring structure; (m), (x) are each an integer selected from 1-8; and in the case of presenting a plurality of units, R, RSB1/SB, RSB1a/SB, ASB1/SB, (m), (x) are each independently shown as above in each of the units] in its molecule, and a method for producing the same are provided. The static electricity-controlling agent containing the PHA, the toner by using the static electricity-controlling agent, the method for forming an image by using the toner and the device for forming the image are also provided.
