PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light emitting method for an LED surface light emission illumination tube and the illumination tube, for actualizing the disappearance of point-like light from a straight or annular LED illumination tube and surface light emission therefrom. PSOLUTION: In the surface light emitting method and the LED surface light emission illumination tube, a tubular illumination cover body of the LED illumination tube is cut or grooved with approximately V-shaped slopes. LED illumination light is delivered to both cut end face sides of the cut or to the slopes of the groove to actualize the disappearance of the point-like light and surface light emission. The LED illumination light is delivered both to both end face sides of the cut and to the tube inner face side of the tubular illumination cover body in the state of projecting at least about 1/3 to the tube inner face side of the tubular illumination cover body. In the surface light emitting method for the LED surface light emission illumination tube and the illumination tube, the substrate of an LED light emitting device is formed as a flexible or ring-shaped substrate to obtain the annular LED illumination tube.
