PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out the compensation of a resonance mode of an object to be controlled such as a moving head and the adjustment of the loop gain of a control system without using a testing signal anew nor impairing convenience on the product user side.;SOLUTION: Head position control signals of a feedforward controller 11 and a feedback controller 12 are applied to a VCM 2 via multiplication processing at a multiplier 13 and attenuation processing at a notch filter 14. The resonance mode of the VCM 2 and head 3 is compensated by the attenuation processing. A mechanical compliance property estimating apparatus 15 obtains the transmission gain of a position error signal pos (=x0-x) and a VCM driving current signal (=i) when seeking a target track on the basis of the operation of the controller 11, and dynamically estimates the respective optimum values of the gain K of the multiplier 13 and the center frequency Fc of the notch filter 14 at that point of time to adjust K and Fc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
