PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the mean value of pulsation including higher harmonies at a small number of sampling points and a mean-value measuring instrument using the same method.;SOLUTION: This instrument has a sensor part 2 for outputting the pulsation of a liquid as an analog signal, an A/D converter 4 for sampling the analog signal based on sampling parameters and converting the sampled analog data into sampled digital data, and a processing part 8 for computing the mean flow rate of the liquid by averaging the plurality of sampled data values. The sampling parameters comprise sampling time that is an integral multiple of the period of a fundamental frequency included in the pulsation and a sampling frequency of the (n+1)th frequency, where 'n' is the degree of a higher harmonic included in the pulsation and '1' is a positive integer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
