PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a patterned magnetic recording medium capable of enhancing floating characteristics of a magnetic head.;SOLUTION: The patterned magnetic recording medium which comprises a magnetic recording layer and a protective layer formed on a substrate and wherein the magnetic recording layer comprises a magnetic body patterned in a track shape and a non-magnetic body buried therebetween, has a recess part continued to a medium end part in a region within 1 mm from the medium end part.
