PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for highly accurately estimating the mechanical strength of coke obtained by dry distillation of a coal blend based on the highly accurate rating of the quality of a variety of raw coal constituting the coal blend for producing the coke, and to provide a method for producing the coke using the above method.;SOLUTION: The method comprises the following procedure: A variety of raw coal for producing coke are subjected to laser Raman spectroscopy to determine characteristic values regarding the peaks of the resultant laser Raman spectrum, the plurality of characteristic values are added together according to the blend proportion for coal description to determine the characteristic value of the coal blend regarding the peak of the spectrum, and the coke strength of the coal blend is estimated based on a predetermined relationship between coke strength and characteristic values regarding the peak of the spectrum.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
