PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a rule for parameter operation direction for automatic adaptation. PSOLUTION: In this parameter operation rule search method, a parameter for engine operation control is increased and decreased by specified quantity in order and degree of improvement of the output value at that time is defined respectively for combinations of each parameter. Then, combination of value of the parameter with which degree of improvement is the largest is set as parameter reference value, value of the parameter is increased and reduced by specified quantity in order and degree of improvement of output value at that time is defined for combination of value of each parameter.
