PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the influence of muck rolling down to a tunnel boring machine by conveying the excavated muck diagonally upward out of an inclined shaft through the inclined shaft without allowing the muck to drop into the shaft, when boring the inclined shaft diagonally downwards from above by use of the tunnel boring machine. ;SOLUTION: When the muck excavated is conveyed backward from the muck chamber 1d of the tunnel boring machine 1 by a belt conveyor 2, the belt conveyor 2 is covered with a protective cover 3 to prevent the muck from dropping into the inclined shaft A. Further, the muck is dumped and stored into a hopper 4 from the muck conveyance terminal end of the belt conveyor 2 and a capsule storage short pipe part 12 for a transport pipe 6 storing a capsule 5 is disposed below the hopper 4. By separating the short pipe part 12 from the transport pipe 6, the muck is dumped and stored into the capsule 5 from the hopper 4. Thereafter, the capsule storage short pipe part 12 is connected to the transport pipe 6 and the capsule 5 is pneumatically transported out of the inclined shaft through the transport pipe 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
