PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrostatic charge image developing toner in which polymer particles have a minute particle size, a dye with high chroma can be used as a coloring agent, sufficient coloring power is obtained by incorporating the coloring agent in high density into the polymer particles so that the toner sufficiently responds to higher definition of an image. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing an electrostatic charge image developing toner, an oil phase containing a polymerizable monomer and a coloring agent is emulsified in water in the presence of a surfactant to produce an emulsion of monomer fine particles containing the coloring agent and having 20 to 500 nm average particle size, then the monomer is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator to produce polymer fine particles containing the coloring agent, and then the obtained polymer fine particles are coaggulated.
