PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing pulp, which inhibits selection yield decrease and kappa value rise that are caused by the lowering in the concentration of Na2S form sulfur in an early cooking time, liable to be generated on the production of the pulp by a polysulfide cooking method.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the pulp, comprising a polysulfide cooking method using an alkaline cooking liquid containing polysulfide ion, characterized by controlling the concentration of the Na2S form sulfur to ≤5 g/L (as Na2O) just after the supply of the cooking liquid to the chips and by performing the cooking in the presence of a quinone compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
