PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to generate a three-dimensional surface profile model which consists of triangular surfaces with small aspect ratio from three-dimentional bit map data.;SOLUTION: This system stores three-dimensional array of signal data which indicates at least one kind of physical nature relevant to a three-dimensional object in orthogonal lattice points arranged in three-dimensional space including the three-dimensional object, compares signal data with prearranged threshold, retrieves lattice points over threshold, retrieves a lattice point which is closest to the lattice point having at least one signal data under threshold from retrieved lattice points, and generates rectangular border surface among them. And this system moves the vertexes of the border surface to a fixed direction using signal data at the vertexes of the border surface and eight lattice points surrounding them, retrieves by vertex moving means the positions where signal data obtained by performing linear interpolation of signal data at eight lattice points coincide with the threshold, connects four vertexes of border surface moved by vertex moving means, generates two triangular surfaces, and stores information of the generated triangular surfaces.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
