PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood pressure measuring device and a blood pressure measuring method, permitting objective and appropriate selection of a result of measurement of the blood pressure when the blood pressure is measured by using a plurality of different measuring methods together or changing the methods. PSOLUTION: The blood pressure measuring device comprises a first pulse wave signal detecting means for detecting pulse wave signals according to a first principle, a second pulse wave signal detecting means for detecting pulse wave signals according to a second principle, a cuff to be worn in an auris externa and the periphery thereof with the first and second pulse wave signal detecting means disposed at appropriate positions, a body movement detecting means for detecting the body movement, and a blood pressure value selecting means for selecting either the blood pressure value extracted from the pulse wave detected by the first pulse wave signal detecting means or the blood pressure value extracted from the pulse wave detected by the second pulse wave signal detecting means.
