PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for welding structures which has excellent fatigue characteristics in the weld zone, and a production method therefor.;SOLUTION: The steel for welding structures having excellent fatigue characteristics in the weld zone has a composition containing, by mass, 0.015 to 0.15% C, 0.01 to 2% Si, 0.2 to 1.5% Mn, ≤0.03% P, ≤0.01% S, 0.001 to 0.1% Al, 0.001 to 0.05% Ti, 0.0001 to 0.01% Mg, 0.0001 to 0.008% O and 0.001 to 0.008% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. Also, Ceq defiend by Ceq=C+Mn/6+(Cu+Ni)/15+(Cr+Mo+V)/5+Nb/3 satisfies Ceq≤0.24% (Si1%), or Ceq≤0.275% (Si≥1%).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
