PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pearlitic steel rail of a high internal hardness type, which is excellent in both of wear resistance and fatigue failure resistance, and to provide a preferable manufacturing method therefor.;SOLUTION: The pearlitic steel rail has a composition comprising, by mass%, 0.73 to 0.85% C, 0.5 to 0.75% Si, 0.3 to 1.0% Mn, 0.035% or less P, 0.0005 to 0.012% S, 0.2 to 1.3% Cr and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities, while controlling a value of [%Mn]/[%Cr] to 0.3 or more but less than 1.0, in which [%Mn] represents an Mn content and [%Cr] represents an Cr content. The railhead has an internal hardness of Hv 380 or more but less than Hv 480 in terms of Vickers hardness in a depth range of at least 25 mm from the surface of the railhead.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
