PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the frequency of a trigger signal outputted from a synchronous controller from exceeding permission maximum frequency limit, and to improve fault reliability. PSOLUTION: A laser beam discharged from an oscillation stage laser 1 is injected into an amplification stage laser 2, and the amplification stage laser 2 amplifies and outputs it. The synchronuns controller 21 obtains delay time of the oscillation stage laser 1 and the amplification stage laser 2 from charging voltage and a temperature and the like of a circuit element in a magnetic pulse compression circuit. A CO counter 25a and a CA counter 25b count time until discharge is actually started. Delay time is corrected based on a counted value, and timing for triggering power sources 1c and 2c of the oscillation stage laser 1 and the amplification stage laser 2 is decided. The synchronous controller 21 compares generation periods and limit values of an OSC trigger signal and an AMP trigger signal, which trigger the power sources 1c and 2c, and stops generation of the trigger signals when the period becomes smaller than the limit value.
