PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base course material which has performance almost equal to crushed stones and air-cooled blast-furnace slag in characteristics specified in the Japanese Industrial Standards (crushed stones for a road: JIS A 5001, steel slag for the road: JIS A 5015), and which is excellent particularly in water permeability and strength.;SOLUTION: This base course material is composed of one or more kinds of alumina-silica brick, magnesia brick and magnesia-chrome brick. The alumina-silica brick is an Al2O3-SiO based one, an Al2O3-SiC based one or an Al2O3-SiC-C based one; the magnesia brick is an MgO based one; and the magnesia-chrome brick is an MgO-Cr2O3 based one. Waste bricks from an ironworks are used for these bricks. Thus, the base course material which is equipped with characteristics required depending on the situations of the pavement and laying-out of the road, for example, the base course material most suitable for a permeable paving material and excellent in the water permeability, or the base course material most suitable for the road in an area with heavy traffic and excellent in soundproofing and durability, are inexpensively obtained by using the waste bricks from the ironworks and made industrially useful.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
