PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic material which efficiently absorbs two photons, that is, an organic material having a large two-photon absorption cross-sectional area. PSOLUTION: The non-resonance two-photon absorbing material contains a methine dye undergoing non-resonant two-photon absorption. The methine dye is preferably a cyanine dye.
