Describes high frequency electronic converters for high intensity discharge lamps of metal vapors or metal halides. It uses integration techniques to obtain high power and power factor to reduce output power oscillation in order to eliminate the acoustic resonance phenomenon. It uses a structure with two controlled switches that, in operation, integrate the function of half-bridge voltage inverter for the lamp supply and power factor correction. The integration of functions is achieved with the aid of two filtering structures based on passive elements (inductors and capacitors). The output elements are responsible for limiting the lamp supply current as well as its spectral content. The input elements are responsible for enabling the power supply current to have a low spectral content (harmonics) for the load of the bus capacitors. In addition, if properly designed, capacitors used in the input filter, together with line impedance, operate as a filter to further reduce the spectral content of the reactor input current.
