The modular system for masonry units is formed on the basis of a lightweight shaped element consisting of a front wall (2) and a rear wall (3) based on a reinforced concrete mixture. Between the front wall (2) and the rear wall (3) there is a solid filler (4) with a density of 8 to 55 kg / m.sup.3.n. or loose filler (4´). The rigid filler (4) is attached to the front wall (2) and the rear wall (3) by a binder (5) which also connects the individual lightweight shaped elements (1) together, the front wall distance (2) from the rear wall (3) define the spacer and reinforcement members (6) connecting the front wall (2) to the rear wall (3). The loose filler (4 ') is held between the front wall (2) and the rear wall (3) at the same time by the side walls (7), firmly connected to the front wall (2) and the rear wall (3). The front wall (2), possibly also the rear wall (3) of each lightweight shaped element (1), is provided with a stone-facing facing material with a design or facing material of the character of exposed concrete, brick, wood, imitation wood paneling and material or cladding material on based on plastic imitations.
